TikTok Tech Immersion is a five-year skills development program dedicated to early talent, particularly university and pre-university students. This initiative aligns with TikTok's commitment to grow the local tech talent ecosystem through knowledge and capability transfers.

TikTok Tech Immersion workshop series

TikTok Tech Immersion features technical experts and outstanding engineers from TikTok's major technical teams as trainers. The workshop series is targeted at tertiary students with a foundational background in computer science and a keen interest in the following topics:

  • Big data: Understanding the world of big data, including data processing, storage, and analysis techniques.
  • Payments and wallets: Key fundamentals of digital payments and wallet systems, covering essential concepts and practical applications.
  • Privacy and risk management: Technical concepts and solutions to drive privacy-related innovation and ensure robust risk management.
  • Generative AI: Foundations of generative AI, exploring cutting-edge technologies and their real-world applications.

Tech immersion across campuses

Our Asia-Pacific (APAC) Early Careers team has been proactive in promoting TikTok Tech Immersion across various universities and pre-universities. In April, we set up promotional booths at the following universities:

  • Singapore Management University (SMU)
  • Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
  • National University of Singapore (NUS)
  • Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)
  • Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP)
  • Victoria Junior College (VJC)

The response was overwhelming, with 1,700 registrations and 3,000 participants, marking a 28% year-over-year increase from 2023. Our outreach efforts have led to over 13,000 exposures, reflecting the growing interest and engagement among students. A follow-up HackerRank reflection exercise resulted in an impressive attendance rate of 86%, showcasing participants' commitment and enthusiasm. Of these, 413 students fulfilled both the attendance and reflection exercise, earning a certificate to recognize their dedication and achievement.

Looking ahead

As we enter the third year of our five-year campaign, we remain dedicated to growing local tech talent. Through continuous engagement and skills development programs, we strive to empower more students and contribute to the local tech talent ecosystem.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights from our TikTok Tech Immersion series. Together, we can make things happen!
