Today we're releasing TikTok Sans, our custom typeface, as an open source font under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

TikTok Sans is the core font behind the TikTok experience, from text overlays on videos and images to the entire interface. By making TikTok Sans open source, we're opening the door to deeper integration and more creative freedom for developers and the global community.

• Enhanced creator production capabilities: You can now integrate TikTok Sans into your preferred workflow, enabling the creation of more sophisticated and flexible TikTok-native content beyond in-app capabilities.
• Optimized e-commerce experiences: Sellers can use TikTok Sans in product image assets to ensure visual consistency and stronger brand alignment within the TikTok platform.
• Seamless API & Kit integration: Developers who leverage our Content Posting API or Green Screen Kit can now directly embed TikTok Sans as a font choice within their applications. This allows creators to maintain the authentic TikTok aesthetic effortlessly from third-party tools.
• Flexible usage and adaptability: You can use TikTok Sans in any project, even beyond TikTok related applications, bringing its distinctive typographic voice wherever you go. The SIL Open Font License 1.1 also allows you to modify and build on it, encouraging even more typographic innovation. See the license for detailed terms.

TikTok has long benefited from the vibrant open source font community, incorporating many typefaces from those initiatives in our creation tools. Releasing TikTok Sans under the same licensing framework is our way of giving back.
